Sport & Co-Curricular
Building teamwork and confidence through sport, arts, and outdoor adventure.
Beyond the Classroom
At Coogee Prep, sport and co-curricular activities are an important part of developing confident, capable and well-rounded boys.
Through competition, performance, outdoor experiences and a wide range of activities, boys learn to work with others, challenge themselves, discover new interests and respond to success and disappointment with resilience and respect.

Physical Education & IPSHA Sport
Physical literacy and movement skills are taught explicitly from Kindergarten through to Year 6 through regular Physical Education lessons. As boys progress through the school, they develop the skills, confidence and understanding to participate in a broad range of sports.
Junior Sport | Kindergarten–Year 2
The early years focus on fundamental movement skills, coordination, spatial awareness and cooperative play. In Year 2, boys begin after-school sport training, developing the skills, rules and game understanding that prepare them for primary competition.
IPSHA Sport | Years 3–6
From Year 3, boys participate in Saturday morning sport and midweek training as members of our IPSHA sporting teams. Participation is an important part of school life, giving every boy the opportunity to contribute to a team, develop his skills and experience the challenges and rewards of competition. Our core competitive sports include Touch Football, Cricket, Football (Soccer) and Rugby 7s.

Co-Curricular Opportunities
Our co-curricular program gives boys the opportunity to explore interests and develop skills beyond the core curriculum. During dedicated Wednesday sessions in Terms 1 and 4, boys in Years 3–6 work with specialist coaches and instructors across a diverse range of activities. The program encourages boys to try something new, develop their skills and discover interests that may continue well beyond their primary years.

Specialist lunchtime coaching is available across K–6, with boys in Years 3–6 also representing Coogee Prep in inter-school chess competitions.
Debating & Public Speaking
Through specialist coaching and inter-school opportunities, boys develop the ability to construct an argument, communicate clearly and speak with confidence.
Year 6 Leadership Through Competition
Every Year 6 boy represents the school in either inter-school chess or IPSHA debating, providing each student with an opportunity to develop analytical thinking, articulation and composure in a competitive setting.
